Pat Saethre shared Disappearing Island's post to the group: Volusia County Reef Report.

Boaters in the Ponce Inlet area Please be aware! the inlet is shoaling worse than it's ever has. The Army Corps of Engineers is scheduled to start a long-term dredging project starting in late April early May of this year to help create a safe passage through the waterways of Ponce Inlet. This photo is courtesy of (Sea Tow) & Capt Nic Stephens and gives you an idea of what's going on with the shoaling problem. Also here is a link from the Army Corp of Engineers describing the projected dredging project that is to take place starting in late April or early May 2018 The Federal solicitation for dredging Ponce de Leon Inlet was issued on December 27, 2017 (see link below). Given the current procurement schedule, dredging is scheduled to commence in late April to early May. https://www.fbo.gov/spg/USA/COE/DACA17/W912EP-17-B-0012/listing.html

Not bad out there today. Beautiful weather and relatively calm seas, at least with in 10 miles. As expected viz on the nearshore and 9 mile was 3' to 5'. Based on satellite data and some recent reports viz conditions are not much better else in other areas. It is defenatly going to be better out on the ledges. Viz out othere should be around 20'. Not much current(<1/4 knot on the botton) and water temps are not bad(mid 60s to low 70s) for this time of year. Current will likely be coming from the south out on the ledges, mostly driven by the southern surface winds and the gulf stream. I would expect Sunday to be about the same but a bit rougher out in the deaper stuff becuase of a little more westerly component to the wind.
